ABOUT US Established
in 1934, Northumberland Clubs for Young People (NACYP) is a Voluntary
umbrella Youth Organisation with over 100 affiliated member Clubs and
Projects throughout the three local authority areas of the City of
Newcastle and County of Northumberland. Our membership is constantly
increasing (we are currently involved with over 9,000 young people each
year), bringing new challenges but also new opportunities to work in
partnership with young people to improve their quality of life. The
vast majority of our membership club leaders are unpaid - they give
their time freely in the evenings and weekends to ensure that young
people are given the chance to fulfil their potential in a structured
and safe environment.
As an independent organisation, we willingly support the five outcomes of Every Child Matters and promote these through our ongoing club support and programme delivery. We have continued to develop new opportunities for both youth workers/volunteers and young persons over a long period of time. We provide information, advice and support to youth workers, volunteers and young people, as well as training programmes and, most importantly, lots of opportunities for young people to participate in sport, arts, music, educational and adventure activities. Most of these events are county wide in nature, bringing young people together from all areas of Newcastle and Northumberland. Many events also create opportunities for participation in regional and national events and programmes.
